Other Roadmaps exist and can be used. The point is to have a systematic engineering approach to either Design (i.e. DMADV) or Improve (i.e. PDCA)

From Theory to Practice

No system can perform in the long run if employees are just told what to do. The concept needs to be understood, so that it can release its full performance.
The internationally recognized Cognitive Systems Approach: Train, Apply, Review is the best way to anchor knowledge and so make the effort sustainable.

1
Train a group of employees within the company or individuals signing up for an open training
2
Apply on given projects, so that candidates have a chance during their apprenticeship to turn theory into practice on-the-job
3
Review, by having each candidate to regularly show (and teach back) what’s been accomplished since the last meeting, so that the trainer can eventually remove road-blocks and correct the course of action in case of misunderstandings
